LOSS OF FLUIDS FROM PIPES AND PRESSURE VESSELS

During the operation of industrial plants, leaks of fluids to the outside may occur from pipes and pressure vessels, the resolution of which is sometimes difficult and complex.

In many cases, it is possible to intervene by eliminating the leak while the system is running.

It is possible to intervene on almost all the fluids present in refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants, thermoelectric plants, paper mills, food industries.

The sealing compounds are specially designed to withstand temperature conditions ranging from those of cryogenic fluids (about -100 ° C) up to over 750 ° C and pressures ranging from vacuum to 300 bar.

The intervention realizes a plugging of the leak that allows the continuation of the operation of the system, but does not constitute a definitive repair.

Therefore it is recommended to restore the efficiency of the element subject to loss as soon as the operating conditions allow it, for example during the first scheduled stop of the plant.

The intervention allows the execution of normal maintenance operations.

The sealing products do not prevent the disassembly of the flanges and valve glands, and can be easily removed; the intervention also does not affect the mechanical stability of the flanges or valves.

These elements can therefore be reused, after checking the sealing surfaces, which may have been damaged by the leak.

Elimination of Leaks from Flanged Bolted Joints

The causes of fluid leaks from bolted flanged joints are many: failure of the gasket, defects of the seats and seal, unsuitable tightening.

In many cases it is possible to perform a temporary repair without interrupting the operation of the system.

After having made a circumferential containment with brass wire or with a metal ring in two or more parts, the sealing compound is injected through special valves called adapters, until an additional seal is reconstructed that can prevent the fluid from escaping towards the outside under pressure.
