Leaks Sealing from Valves

LEAKS FROM PREMITRECCIA

Fluid leaks through packing or pre-formed graphite rings are a fairly frequent problem, especially where high pressures are present (eg water-steam circuits in thermoelectric power plants).

In these cases, we intervene by drilling holes directly on the castle in correspondence of the chamber chamber and injecting the sealing compound until the seal pack is reconstructed.

The intervention partially affects the maneuverability of the valve.

LEAKS FROM BODY/CASTLE COUPLING

In the event of leaks from the body / castle coupling, action is taken in the same way as for flanged joints.

Normally, due to the geometry of the flanges (often oval or irregular because they are forged or cast) and the reduced opening between the internal faces, the circumferential containment is made with brass wire.

LEAKS FROM AUTOCLAVE GASKET

In pressure seal valves, a leak can sometimes occur through the autoclave gasket installed between the body and the bonnet.

In these cases, through holes are made on the valve body at the gasket through which the sealing compound is injected.

This is a difficult operation, the success of which depends on many factors: gasket material, extent of the defect, correct identification of the position of the seal, operating conditions and design.

LEAKS FROM VALVE BODY

In cases where there is a leak from the valve body, proceed by installing a containment box in the same way as for interventions on piping.

Normally the large diameter valves remain manoeuvrable, while the small ones are entirely incorporated into the box, becoming inaccessible.
